On Monday, January 25th at 7:00P.M. the León Felipe Chapter of the National Spanish Honor Society welcomed its newest members. Aaron Bowers, Ashley Cruz Ovando, Jaylin Davis, Noah Holland, Garrett Oliver and Olivia Tanchak were inducted into the Pelion High School Chapter of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. Mrs. Castro and I celebrate and congratulate these panthers for their academic achievements in their Spanish Classes! We are so very proud of each of you for your hard work and dedication to your study of the Spanish language, culture and perspectives!
Additionally, we would like to thank the parents for their support and for joining us in celebrating these youngsters! We would also like to thank Mr. Hearn for his ongoing support of World Languages, for joining us in welcoming these students into the Spanish Honor Society and being a part of our ceremony!

PHS Spanish Honor Society
It The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánia (Spanish Honor Society) is an organization that celebrates and recognizes student excellence in the study of Spanish and to promote the study of the Hispanic Culture. Our Chapter was established in 2017 by Mrs. Elizabeth Ben Yahia and is named in honor of the Spanish Poet León Felipe. The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica was established in the United States in 1953 and was known as the Spanish National Honor Society. In 1959, its name changed to Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica and it is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers Of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). Each semester, students who are identified for their exemplary academic achievement in Spanish are invited to be inducted to the SHH.
