On Monday, January 25th at 7:00P.M. the León Felipe Chapter of the National Spanish Honor Society welcomed its newest members. Aaron Bowers, Ashley Cruz Ovando, Jaylin Davis, Noah Holland, Garrett Oliver and Olivia Tanchak were inducted into the Pelion High School Chapter of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. Mrs. Castro and I celebrate and congratulate these panthers for their academic achievements in their Spanish Classes! We are so very proud of each of you for your hard work and dedication to your study of the Spanish language, culture and perspectives!
Additionally, we would like to thank the parents for their support and for joining us in celebrating these youngsters! We would also like to thank Mr. Hearn for his ongoing support of World Languages, for joining us in welcoming these students into the Spanish Honor Society and being a part of our ceremony!
The Pelion High School Chapter of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, León Felipe, welcomed its newest members: Reese Goodwin, Erick David Quintana Valdéz, Trey Sanders, Yazmine Simmons, and Morgan Williams in its ranks yesterday evening in an induction ceremony held in the Little Theatre at 7:00P.M. Mrs. Ben Yahia and Mrs. Castro, the co-sponsors, presided over this very special ceremony and all students inducted, as well as their families, were present for the ceremony and reception that followed. Thank you, students, for your dedication, hard work and commitment to learning another language and the perspectives of its culture. Parents, thank you for your attendance and support of the students and our program. It means a lot to us! We are so proud of your youngsters!
We would like to thank our Principal, Mr. Hearn, for being a part of our ceremony and joining us in honoring these youngsters and celebrating their academic achievements. Additionally, we thank Mr. David Lee, Head Custodian of PHS and John Canada, for his help setting up the auditorium for our ceremony. On Tuesday, May 7th, 2019 the PHS Chapter of the Spanish Honor Society, León Felipe, welcomed its newest inductees. This marks the fourth induction ceremony since it was established in 2017. The following students were inducted: Emili Bautista Hernández, Callie Brown, Belle Kneece, Nayelie López, Riley Micolowsky, Lydia Mills, Juan Pablo Posso Achury, and Katelyn Wren. PHS Spanish Honor Society
It The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánia (Spanish Honor Society) is an organization that celebrates and recognizes student excellence in the study of Spanish and to promote the study of the Hispanic Culture. Our Chapter was established in 2017 by Mrs. Elizabeth Ben Yahia and is named in honor of the Spanish Poet León Felipe. The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica was established in the United States in 1953 and was known as the Spanish National Honor Society. In 1959, its name changed to Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica and it is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers Of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). Each semester, students who are identified for their exemplary academic achievement in Spanish are invited to be inducted to the SHH.
